Welcome to Frogmouth Cottage Photography, named after the Tawny Frogmouths that live in and around my home in Melbourne, Australia. This website records my personal journey in film photography after rediscoverying my love for B&W film and printing in 2016 with my trusty Pentax MZ-50 that I’ve had since the late 90s. I took the photo above in March 2020 while holidaying at Uluru and photographing this iconic red scene with black and white film. But this image says it all – Film Rocks!
The pandemic lockdowns gave me even more time to spend on my hobby, and resulted in the beginnings of my collection of vintage cameras and photographic equipment (far too much online shopping going on there!). As well as providing the opportunity to experiement with different types of black and white and colour film, learning to process C-41 film at home, and building this website. A shock diagnosis of a serious illness a couple of years ago turned my world upside and photography became even more important. I’m exploring ways to share and sell my images, and having fun experimenting with the merging of analogue and digital art forms, as well as continuing to find new (old) cameras. My photos and designs can be purchased on RedBubble.
