Ilford SFX 200 Test

This is my first test of Ilford SFX 200 with a red filter to create infra red style images. I was hoping to take more images of the sky and clouds, but with COVID-19 lockdown restricting me to my home I focussed mainly on different types of vegetation. I do like the cloud shot behind the house, it looks like an ominous fog rolling up from behind. Another favourite is the Cordyline, whose red leaves are rendered white.

I used a red 25 filter with a tripod and release cable for the slow shutter speeds and bracketed my shots; f16 to f22 gave the best images. I had read that SLRs would have difficulty focussing with the red filter on, but I didn’t have that problem.

Can’t wait to be allowed to move around more and experiment with this film in different locations and with other filters.
